County Charity Introduces New Range of Adult Support Services in East Northamptonshire
For the past 33 years the Northamptonshire based charity, Service Six, has been providing a wide range of free services for young people. The award winning charity is now entering a new phase of development and through its trading company, Service Six Ltd, will be introducing a new range of free information, support and counselling services for Adults (aged 18+ years) in the East Northamptonshire district.
The new services will be delivered through a grant award from East Northamptonshire Council and will start in October 2011. The grant will provide £20,000 per year and will be targeted at the most needy adults within the area to support them towards leading healthier and happier lives.
Service Six has been receiving funding from Northamptonshire County Council, East Northamptonshire Council and Rushden Town Council since 2000 for youth related provision in the area. In combination with the new Adult Support Services, the wider aim over the next six month period will be to develop a range of Family Support Services for East Northamptonshire as a pilot project for possible development across the county.
This is a welcome development for Service Six. Director of the charity and Company Secretary, Jane Deamer said, ‘The award of the ENC grant for the next three years is fantastic news and will enable us to provide a new range of services to adults and families. We will be working closely with partners and community groups to reach out to the most hard to reach members of the community and develop responsive services.’ The initial services will include a helpline available seven days a week, text service, email support, practical support, advocacy and a professional therapeutic counselling service.
